COURAGE TO LOVE, A NOVEL, TORN FROM TODAY’S HEADLINES, DEBUTS AUGUST
California, USA, June 28, 2010—Courage To Love, a love story about war and peace in the Middle East, by Robert Ellis, will be published in mid-August as a paperback and audio book.
Ellis, a former war correspondent and Ebony magazine editor, tells a tale of an American Israeli lieutenant from South Carolina and a teenage Palestinian freedom fighter living in the Gaza Strip who are thrown together during a hospital attack and under the spell of music, are attracted to each other. As their budding love grows, the youngsters have to contend with their serious wounds, their different religious upbringings, and the stern commands of their families.
Courage to Love involves doctors from Egypt, the USA and Israel, a Franciscan friar from Lebanon, and a nurse from Jordan, a namesake of Queen Noor. It is written in a Da Vinci Code like style in and around a fictitious hospital in Israel.
In an early review, editor K. Cannary wrote, “The story pays attention and respect to the different religions, customs and languages, and shows how even in the most extreme cases of hatred, peace and love can be found. Its ripe content makes it a story of interest to everyone.”
Hollywood writer-director Bill Birrell, who narrated the audio book, said, “I have been looking for a human scale story about the Middle East that will both entertain and provoke. In short I believe Courage to Love is it. Not since Elie Wiesel has an author distilled these conflicts into such human terms. While the story touches on significant issues, it is really a tale of two young people and their struggle to be allowed to love each other.”
Courage to Love will be available in late summer wherever books and audio books are sold.
The Author wrote the book, from the perspective that his two best friends in life are an Arab and a Jew. Mr Ellis can be contacted via his publicists for an interview.
